Indonesian President, Prabowo Subianto, recently held a High Level Strategic Cooperation Meeting with Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, where he expressed Indonesia’s interest in co-producing defense equipment with Turkey. Prabowo specifically mentioned the desire for joint ventures with Turkish companies and emphasized the importance of collaboration within the defense industry. He highlighted the existing partnerships between Indonesia and Turkey with companies such as Roketsan, Aselsan, Havelsan, and Baykar. Despite the absence of a formal trade agreement, Prabowo showed optimism for increased trade between the two countries. He also called for the finalization of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) to boost both economies. Prabowo stressed the significance of mutually beneficial trade and expressed confidence in overcoming trade barriers through cooperation between Trade Ministers.
