President Prabowo Subianto is dedicated to improving the welfare of the poor by implementing various flagship programs that not only address immediate needs but also aim to create a better future for generations to come. During a Berani Bicara discussion titled Accelerating the Success of President Prabowo’s Programs, Deputy Minister of Social Affairs Agus Jabo Priyono highlighted initiatives like Sekolah Rakyat, Kopdes Merah Putih, and MBG that are designed to uplift those living in poverty and break the cycle of intergenerational poverty.

One of the key programs, Sekolah Rakyat, seeks to provide education to children from impoverished backgrounds to disrupt the cycle of poverty inheritance. President Prabowo believes that education is crucial in ensuring that children do not have to suffer the same economic hardships as their parents. The government has set ambitious targets to eradicate extreme poverty by 2026 and reduce the overall national poverty rate to below 5 percent by 2029 through community empowerment programs and social interventions.

Adita Irawati, a Senior Expert at the Presidential Communications Office, highlighted the three-pronged strategy to combat poverty, which includes initiatives like the People’s School, Red-and-White Village Cooperatives, and Free Health Checks in Schools. The government aims to reach millions of Indonesians through programs like CKG and empower communities by establishing cooperatives that stimulate local economies and create new job opportunities.

President Prabowo is set to launch the Kopdes Merah Putih program with the goal of establishing 80,000 cooperatives nationwide to empower villages and improve livelihoods. These initiatives are designed to enable communities to meet their own needs and break the cycle of poverty by fostering self-sufficiency and economic growth.
